International Student Senate

Inquirere et Immutare

To Study and Reform

The International Student Senate was founded in the nineties at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven by then student leader Gert Van Mol. Goal of the International Student Senate was to create a high quality platform to study and analyze the universe of professional leaders in world economics and politics. Membership of the International Student Senate was strictly reserved for student leaders defined as students who became student leaders after genuine, free and democratic student elections. The maxim on the coat of arms said: “Inquirere et Immutare” or “To Study and Reform”. Mr. Van Mol joined The Wall Street Journal Europe in 2002. In 2007 he created The Future Leadership Institute, later to be renamed The Wall Street Journal Future Leadership Institute after Van Mol suggested his employer to use the Institute as an innovative sales platform for The Wall Street Journal. In 2009 it was decided to join forces between The Wall Street Journal Future Leadership Institute and The International Student Senate, renaming the latter (temporarily) as “The WSJE International Student Senate”. Every year The International Student Senate assembles student leaders in a European country to identify and promote roads to stimulate and develop entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and innovation in our society leading to sustained economic growth and social protection.
