
Organising committee: The Future Leadership Institute Antwerp
The Future Leadership Institute Antwerp will be organizing its first session on the 27th of November 2019 at the prestigious Paleis op de Meir, Antwerp, Belgium.
Topic: The first session of the FLI Antwerp will offer clarity and distinctness on the Sino-African relations.
Questions: What are the political, economic, social and cultural connections between China and the African continent nowadays? Are the Sino-African associations a win-win for both parties? China’s Presence in Africa is a fact, but what is going on behind the scenes? Attend this session and learn about topics that are currently influencing the hearts and minds of the general public!
Speakers: Ties Dams, Arthur Flieger, Jiangbo Lv and Sanne van der Lugt.
Ties Dams is a researcher at the Institute of International Relations Clingendael. He wrote “De Nieuwe keizer” which is the first Dutch study into the life and ruling of Xi Jinping. Ties Dams teaches Geopolitical Strategy at the University of Amsterdam and is frequently in the news as a specialist of China’s politics.
Arthur Flieger is besides CEO of Flieger Law also an accomplished lawyer and qualified financial advisor with extensive experience in the practice of finance law, corporate law, contract law, tax law, labour law and aviation law. His current milestone of career is to develop Sino-EU finance, M & A, take overs, cooperate and aviation legal solutions and services through mutual assistance and cooperations, following his achievements and reputation in Brazil and North America. Mr. Flieger is Honorary Consul of Romania for the Flemish Region with the exception of West Flandres.
Jiangbo Lv works as a lawyer at Flieger Law and is specialised in the relations between China and Europe. He is a Co-Founder of iBridge International Cultural Consultancy. This institution aims at promoting the intercity and interregional communication and cooperation between a wide span of cultural, artistic, and academic agents, and to serve the development of liberal arts, professional orientation, and intercultural awareness. He will give hands on examples of the relations between China and Africa.
Sanne van der Lugt is an academic researcher, intercultural trainer and freelance policy consultant on China in Africa and Chinese investments. Her research interests are Chinese investments, the political economy of China-Africa relations and Chinese business culture. She has worked as a research analyst at the Centre for Chinese Studies at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and led and conducted fieldwork in many African countries. Some of her research has been commissioned by Oxfam, WWF and the European Commission. She has experience with running a business in China, and provides training and advice for European, Chinese and African companies and government organizations in dealing with respectively African, European and Chinese business cultures.
